October 13th, 2009 by Mike VasilindaTwo bills have been filed. One by a Democrat the other by a Republican, to require vacancies in the US Senate to be filled by election. George LeMieux was appointed to the seat vacated by retiring Mel Martinez in August. Governor Charlie Crist indicated he would sign the legislation if it reaches his desk.
“I prefer Democracy,” Crist said. “You know, I was happy to carry out my duty, but I think it’s always preferable to have the people win.”
