Bill Clinton Returns to FAMU

March 14th, 2016 by flanews

There’s not much time left before Florida’s primary, and candidates are holding events all over Florida to try and sway last minute voters.  Matt Galka reports from Tallahassee where Hilary Clinton’s husband and former president Bill Clinton stopped to campaign for his wife.

FAMU sophomore Wenly Geffrard doesn’t know who he’s voting for yet.  He’s a registered democrat and came to Hilary Clinton’s campaign event Monday.

“I just want to see what she has to offer as a presidential candidate, I feel like we all all have to see our best options,” said Geffrard.

It wasn’t Hilary herself making the case for her presidency, but her husband and former president Bill Clinton.

“She’s the best change maker! We can’t wait for change!” Clinton told the crowd of around 300.

Clinton appealed to the mostly student crowd by touching on college affordability and gun control.

“If you need your tuition you can get it. If you need more you can get that. Everybody should be able to work 10 hours a week in work study, it won’t kill you, and that will keep tuition costs and college costs down if we do that,” he said.

The former president campaigned at FAMU for his own presidential run.  He focused on his wife’s record, but took a small shot at GOP leading candidate Donald Trump.

“America has always been great no matter what that other fella is saying,” said Clinton.

Hilary is dominating in the latest Quinnipiac poll over opponent Bernie Sanders – leading him by 26 points heading into Tuesday’s primary.
