State Farm Seeks 47.1 Rate Increase
July 16th, 2008 by flanewsState Farm Insurance filed a 47.1 percent average statewide rate hike this afternoon. The company says it needs the increase to cover potential losses from any storms that might hit the state. Spokesman Justin Glover says current rates are not adequate to pay claims for the companys one million customers. State regulators say they are going over the filing with a fine tooth comb and remain committed to keeping rates affordable. The state will hold a hearing into the rate hike on August 12th in Tallahassee.
