Environmental Coalition Questions Lawn Safety
December 21st, 2006 by Mike VasilindaA new statewide environmental coalition is asking pesticide companies to develop safer chemicals. The group singled out TrueGreen ChemLawn, the nation’s largest home pesticide applicator as a bad actor, exposing children and pets to a wide array of toxic Chemicals. Dr. Ronald Saff says companies must do more. “There is a lot of nastiness with these pesticides. We want people to be aware of it. We want the pesticide companies to be good environmental stewards and develop safer, less toxic alternatives.”
The group estimates that 70 million pounds of pesticides are applied to lawns each year.
