School Boards File Suit Over Charter Schools

It is challenging a new law that takes away local board authority to regulate charter schools and gives the power to a state commission. Dr. Wayne Blanton, Executive Director of the Florida School Board Association contents the Constitution gives local boards the power to tax and regulate schools within their counties.
The suit was filed by the School Boards association and the individual school boards of Alachua, Broward, Duval, Flagler, Hernando, Lee, Martin, Palm Beach, and St. John’s counties.
